Hey Tony,

I didn’t mention NY in my last letter because so much has happened since you left, I don’t really even know where to begin. If I was to try and include everything in one letter, it would never end. Besides, I felt like it deserved an entire letter just to its self.

As I’m sure you already guessed, NYC bore the brunt, as it always does. But as I’m also sure you know, New Yorkers are tough. Some fled the city, and who can really blame them, as you liked to say, “it wasn’t about winning, it was about survival.” But those who toughed it out, rallied together and took this thing on together. Rooting and cheering for each other the entire time, like it was the bottom of the 9th and the bases were loaded. Everybody was on the same team. You would have been so proud.

I haven’t been back since, like I mentioned, travel is difficult these days. But I hear it is no where near as busy. There is even talk of rent prices coming down… well if not coming down, slowing down a little. People are more likely to work from home these days and it seems like people are asking themselves, “why not move out of the city?” Perhaps now is a good time to invest in property upstate or, God forbid, Jersey.

Haha.. anyways, you are missed but definitely not forgotten. One silver lining to this fiasco is that it seems like people are really embracing cooking at home for themselves and for each other. I mean, they don’t really have a choice, but that’s besides the point. I myself have taken out your cook books and have been really diving in deep. There was actually a shortage of flour and baker’s yeast for awhile… as well as toilet paper… haha…Jesus, you are missing out.

About Jorge Furioso

One of my life's largest regrets was that I never got a chance to meet Tony. In search of some sort of catharsis I have begun writing down what I would say to him if I got the chance. I don't really know if it is healthy to have an imaginary, on-going, one sided conversations with the dead, but for now, that's the plan.
